TWEED RIVER WATER SKI CLUB

Around 25 years ago in Tumbulgum NSW, the Tweed River Water Ski Club was formed by Tony Vass. Then in 1995 was re-established and relocated to Murwillumbah behind Liquor Land.

The club has a broad spectrum of water based activities ranging from social skiing, wake boarding and family fun days. We also hold competitive barefoot tournaments, barefoot drags and barefoot schools. The bare workshop is taught by some of the best barefoot skiers in Australia including the current Australia teams coach alongside with the current Women’s World Champion.

The Tweed River Water Ski Club also holds a water ski race series containing 5 races at present, with anticipation of more coming on line next season. The race season kicks off in May which is run by the Grafton Ski Club in Grafton. The next meet is the Nev Wilson Memorial Race which is held at Tweed Heads in September. Also in this month there is the Ballina River Festival. Coraki is home to the Coraki Assault which is a very anticipated event in November. The season concludes in March with the Woodburn Bridge to Bridge. Each race caters for all skiers ranging from beginners to the elite with classes Sub Juniors, Juniors, Women’s, Masters, Social and Unlimited Inboards and Outboards.

The proceeds made by each race in the series, donations are made to various charities, which brings a great feeling of achievement to the club members knowing that they can much such a difference by doing something they love and enjoy so much.

Regular weekends away are also planned for some fun social skiing for all the family.
